Chara-ben is a shortened word of characters Bento (lunchbox), which expresses anime characters using foods.
Japanese moms started making Chara-ben for kids’ lunch boxes to make them.The Chara-ben is very cute (Kawaii) and kid’s can proud it toward their friends.
Kid’s can eat dislike foods as well because of cute shapes and character.

Minions
Minions is a American CG animated comedy film.
Minions are small, yellow creatures who have existed since the beginning of time, evolving from yellow single-celled organisms into beings which exist only to serve history’s most despicable masters.
Ingredients

- Rice (Before cooked)こめ
- 0.5 rice cup
- Saltしお
- 1/4 teaspoon
- Corn Potage powderコーンポタージュパウダー
- 1 table spoon
- Vegetable oilサラダ油
- 1 teaspoon
- Sausage (for filling of rice ball)ソーセージ
- 2 pieces
- Nori seaweed sheetのり
- 10x10cm
- Sliced cheeseスライスチーズ
- 1 sheet
- Kanikamaカニカマ
- 1 piece
- Blue Food Coloring
- 1 pinch
- Egg without Yolk卵の白身
- 1 piece
- Sugarさとう
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Saltしお
- 1 pinch
- Ajinomoto味の素
- 1 pinch
Tools
This time it’s better to use the following kitchen tools for your convenience.
- Small knife
- Scissors
- Plastic straw
- Plastic forms and paper cup
- Tweezers
- Punchers
Direction
First of all
Make the filling of rice ball.
Remove the surface Red only from 1 Kanikama. It will be used for Minions’ eyes.
Decollation
Place broccoli to follow the shape of box as decollation.
Make Blue egg crape.
Mix an egg (without yolk) and 1 pinch of Food coloring Blue,, 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, 1 pinch of salt and 1 pinch of Ajinomoto. Use its egg mixture to make thin crape. Use 1 egg crape only for 2 Minions.
Make 2 types of Flower shape.
1) From Sliced Ham
Cut Sliced ham as below.
Roll up above cut Ham.
After rolled up Ham like flower, be fastened at the edge of Ham by Nori seaweed.
Make 2 Flower shaped Ham as below.
2) From Sausage
Cut one edge of Sausage. Next for the other edge, cut it into 1/6 equally.
Mention about how to cut it in section as below.
After cut, stir-fly sausages with 1 teaspoon of oil on the pan. Sausages’ figure become like Flowers.
Minions
Mix cooked rice (120g. ※60g of cooked rice per minion), 1 table spoon of Corn potage powder and 1 pinch of salt. Make Yellow rice balls as Minions’ bodies by Plastic wrap.
*Please note every balls including 1 piece of sausage as its filling. Please lightly stir-fry 2 sausages before covered by yellow rice. Sausage already has salty taste so no seasoning. If you want, Ketchup may be better as seasoning with stir-fry
Make Minions’ parts.
First, make Minions’cloth from Blue egg crape, Nori and Sliced cheese by paper cup, plastic forms, punchers and knife. After this out Minions’ cloth on rice balls.
Next make Minion has 1 eye.
Press Nori onto Plastic circle form. After getting the line, cut Nori along a line by scissors or knife.
Cut Sliced cheese by Plastic form like circle that is smaller than above Nori.
Cut Kanikama into much smaller by Plastic form that will be Minion’s iris.
Punch Nori by Puncher that will be pupil, and make smallest circle by Plastic straw it’ll be light on the eye.
Make 2 thin Nori for glasses. After that put Minion’s eye on rice ball.
Punch Nori by puncher for Minion’s mouth. Put it and 3 thin Nori as hair on rice ball and 1 eye Minion is completed.
Make another Minion has 2 eyes.
Punch Nori for Glasses. Cut Sliced cheese by plastic form. Put cheese on Nori as below.
Cut Kanikama for Minion’s iris. Punch Nori for pupil and cut Sliced cheese by Straw for light on eye. Put Mouth shaped Nori and thin Nori like hair and glasses on rice ball. 2 eyes Minion is completed.
Surroundings
Place Minions like following picture.
Decollate Broccoli and Flowers along the surrounding Minions.
